Meet the Team
Harry Marshall
Musical Director
"Hi, I’m Harry and delighted to be EUBB’s musical director this year. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh studying Music last year and played with EUBB on soprano cornet during my time. I thoroughly enjoyed attempting to play high notes on soprano however am very excited to give the baton waving at the band a go! I’ve played with brass bands all my musical life however I enjoy playing with various orchestras and jazz bands as well. In my spare time I like to cross country run and unintentionally lose tennis matches. It’s great to have the band rehearsing live again, and to see loads of new and returning members. Looking forward to performing with everyone this year!"

President
4th Year Molecular Biology Trombone. This is my 4th year in EUBB, I joined back in my first year. I really like EUBB as it's a society where I get to perform a wide variety of music, learned new skills like marching, and have met life long friends through the society. It's a great way for me to spend my Friday evenings! I am excited for a full year of rehearsals and performances! Due to COVID-19 pandemic, live music performance was hit hard, and getting back into full band is really exciting. As president, I help to lead the society, along with my fellow committee members. My goals are to ensure that our rehearsals get back on track to a more typical rehearsal environment, whilst still keeping everyone safe. I've always loved EUBB and I'm excited to give back to the society this year!

Treasurer
I am an incoming 1st Year PhD Student in Astrophysics. At band I play percussion and the tenor horn. This will be my 6th year at EUBB and my 4th on the committee - I love that everyone at band is really welcoming and nice, when I first started it really helped having a place to go where I could just be with nice people and relax, and that has definitely stayed a big part of what EUBB is. I have made some of my closest friends through band. I am excited to make investments in the band, we'll hopefully have some good plans for fundraising and investments that will improve the band and make it even more accessible, especially in the current economic climate. I am also excited to meet all the new faces joining this year, even if you don't have your own instrument you can still join band!

Social Secretary
Hi all, I’m Phoebe one of the social secs for this year! I am a tenor horn player going into my third year of linguistics, I joined EUBB last September although I’ve been in brass bands since I was 12! This past year I have loved meeting new people and getting the opportunity to play in concerts and weekly rehearsals again after a long covid absence. I’m looking forward to welcoming new members and hanging out with the old ones as well! :))

4th Year Maths Percussion EUBB is so much fun- I can't imagine anything else that would give me the chance to smash plates on stage! As one of the social secs, I'm hoping to add to that fun with socials that everyone can participate in and enjoy! :)
Richard York
(He/Him)
Librarian
Hi! I'm Richard, a fourth and final year chemistry PhD student. Having studied here for my undergraduate degree as well, I'm going into a tenth (!) year playing cornet in EUBB, and have been on committee a few times before. This year will be my last as a student and therefore last chance to give back to a fantastic group of people, so I'm happy to have the opportunity to do this as your librarian! Making all those photocopies will be a welcome distraction from thesis writing. Band has been a huge part of my life and I've made plenty of friends here, so hoping to see plenty of new faces this year. Here's to another successful year for band!

Publicity Officer
Hi, my name is Claire and I’m a second year Astrophysics student. This is my tenth year playing the trumpet, and my second at EUBB. I’ve always loved playing in concert and jazz bands, and was excited to try brass band for the first time last year. I immediately loved the repertoire and relaxed atmosphere of EUBB, and my goal this year is ultimately to help make band a fun and welcoming space. I can’t wait to spend another year playing with such a great group of people!
Tega Digba

Publicity Officer
I am a 3rd year architecture student and play cornet in the brass band. For only coming to EUBB for a year, I have enjoyed all the events and activities I've participated in. From playing with the band around Edinburgh and the attending exciting social nights at Teviot, spending time with fellow brass band members has always been a pleasure. With everything going back to normal after the pandemic, I am excited for many more activities that we could not have done in the past, such as more events with sister societies. With my new role in the committee as publicity officer, I would like to continue encouraging both current and new members of the society to be more involved in fun events planned ahead.
