Counting Triplets Anticlockwise -
Michael Goessler

"Eight notes, in a harmonic minor setting, underpinning every bar of the main melody. The steady pulse of the 6/8 rhythm, almost jazzy, but no, this piece has drunk vodka, not bourbon. What does it mean? I have to confess I do not know (and if I did, I would not tell you). Something mischievous for sure. A certain ease in not having to take itself seriously, perhaps. As for the rest, I’m sure you’ll find out for yourself."

Michael Goessler composed this original composition for our 2021 Comp Comp. The piece is written for a brass quintet - with Cornet (Jamie Hunter), Flugelhorn (Aileen Erginsoy), Baritone (Mhairi Maxwell), Trombone (Ben Di Lorenzo) and Bass Trombone (Ben Di Lorenzo). Video was edited by James Shaw. This video premiered at our sister society EUWB's 40th Anniversary Virtual Concert.

Congratulations again to Michael for his win with this composition.
